Email from Elder Lofthouse 5/24/16 Where'd it Go?

This week seemed to fly by!  It was a pretty good week.
   
Tuesday evening we went on exchanges. Elder Schlachter came here with me.  It was a pretty good evening, we went to see Vivian!  She's awesome. We had a pretty good visit, and her son Jim is back, so that's good.

Wednesday we walked around a lot. There's a cool farmers market right across the street from the church. So we went and walked around it. There wasn't a whole lot of people there, seeing as it was the first one of the year. So that'll pick up later on in the summer, and it'll be a prime place to go contacting!  We had a lesson with Sister Sadoway in the evening. We had an awesome lesson about scripture study.

Thursday we had district meeting. It was a really good meeting. elder Collins is a really good District leader. After district meeting we went to Vivian's for lunch. She's such s good cook!  After lunch we went and stopped by a bunch of people, but nobody was available.  It was a pretty slow evening, but it was a good day of walking around.

Friday we went to dream catcher. It was super wet, because it had been raining for 2 days. It started raining Wednesday evening. It was great, because Alberta is in desperate need of rain. So the rain is a huge blessing!  We did weekly planning after.  It's my least favorite part of the week, but it's a necessary part of missionary work. Oh well.  We had supper with the Guzman's. It was awesome. Sister Guzman made some super good cheese sauce stuff, and I got the recipe for it. It was incredible!

Saturday we had coordination in the morning with Brother Lambert. It was a good meeting,  after that we finished weekly planning, and then we went and walked around town trying to talk to people. It was still raining, and there wasn't too many people out and about.

Sunday it was still raining!  We had church, which was awesome this week!  I love Sunday. It's such a good day to have. I know that the Sabbath is made for us to rest and rejuvenate. I love the spiritual recharge that comes from church. After church we had supper with the Bates, and went and tried by a bunch of people, but it was the May long weekend, so everyone was gone.

Monday was fun. We went to the Wendover's in the afternoon, and we had a good lesson on prayer. That was the only thing that really exciting happened. It was a pretty good week, though!

This week was awesome. Miracles really do happen. When we ask God for something in faith, it happens. Alberta was in desperate need of rain, and so we had a special fast about a week and a half ago. This past week it rained for 5 days straight. Miracles are real. God is real.  I love it!

Email from Elder Lofthouse 5/17/16 Seriously? Cereal-y?

This week was pretty good!  It was a little slow, but it was cool!
   
Tuesday was an adventure. Elder Pouliot and I were going to get pizza, when Sister Manion called. She needed us to get a passport to the airport as soon as possible. We drove to the airport, and got the passport to the missionary just in time!  It was awesome. That night, we taught a lesson to the Cunningham's. It went well, and they have a lot of questions.  It's great.

Wednesday was a blast. We went and saw Brother Leaf. He's doing well, and we had a good discussion.  We saw Brother Hart as well. He's awesome. He's got a lot of really dumb jokes that are just awesome. It was a really fun day.

Thursday we had district meeting in the morning. It was good. After that we went to lunch at Vivian's. It was awesome. I love Vivian. She's great. I'm not sure what we did the rest of the day. It wasn't that exciting.

Friday was great. We went to dream catcher and did service. After that we tried to plan, but it didn't go very well. After supper we went and tried to visit people, but nobody was home.

Saturday we had coordination in the morning. It went well, and then we went and helped George Wilson!  He's great. We helped him for a couple hours, and it was a lot of fun. I love it.

Sunday was great. Church is always good. After church there was a potluck, which is always the best. I love potlucks. The rest of the day was pretty good, but we didn't teach a whole lot.

Monday was good. We went to the Wendover's, but nobody was home!  It was sad. On the way home, I almost got attacked by a goose......It was pretty freaky. I don't like geese all that much. They kind of scare me. After that we went and had supper with the Cahoon's. They're a great family. We had a lesson with the Pedersens after that. It was pretty fun!

This week has been good. I learned something.......  Love is thevmost important thing in life. If we don't love others, what's thevpoint of being here?  I promise that life is way better if you love people, than if you don't.

Email from Elder Lofthouse 5/10/16 Hi this is Elder Roundy speaking

This week was pretty good, but next week should be crazier!   Transfers happened, so we'll talk about that near the end......

Tuesday was good. Preparation day is fun. We got haircuts at a sweet hair place. It was Cherish Hair design, which was owned by a member, and it was a really nice place. It was awesome. That was really the only cool thing that happened.

Wednesday was pretty good. We had stake coordination in the evening, so we called all of the Elders in the zone in the morning to get all of the information. We have 11 companionships of Elders including us!  It took a while, but we got it done. Stake coordination went really well. It was a really good meeting, and I feel like the stake and the missionaries are all on the same page!

Thursday we had district meeting. It was really good, and we had a great experience with a basher at Wendy's for lunch. I find it very frustrating when people tell me what I believe, but we were able to handle the situation with grace, so it was ok. After lunch nothing really happened. We went and saw Brother Kohn in the evening. It was awesome!  He's such a cool guy!

Friday we had MLC in the morning. It was a really good meeting, and I learned a ton of stuff.  I don't know if it was really learned, but I realized some things that I knew previously that I didn't know that I knew. 😁  We had a lesson with the Wendover's. We read out of the BOM with them, and they love it. It's fun teaching them. Not much happened the rest of the day.

Saturday we weekly planned. It was pretty good, and we actually got it done in a reasonable time!  After lunch we went and visited Brother Weller.  He loves us coming over, and he doesn't get out much, so he wants us to come by. It was a lot of fun.  We didn't really see much happen the rest of the day.

Sunday was great!  We went tracting in the morning to invite people to church.... Instead we had some old guy yell at us..... It was hilarious. I don't think he was all the way there, but it was still funny. After church I got to skype home!  It was great. After skyping home we visited Vivian. She's doing good, so that's good.

Monday was transfer calls!  Elder Roundy and I are staying together for six more weeks!  It's going to be good. We helped out at the food bank in the morning, which is always fun. Later in the day we met a lady named Ariel.  She's a member, and she told us to stop by. I'm so stoked to teach her!  We also set up a lesson with Stan, a potential investigator. It's going to be awesome!

This week was full of miracles. The biggest one happened in northern Alberta. Fort McMurray, a city about five hours north, burned down. Luckily they managed to get 88,000 people out of the city with no fatalities!  God truly watches out for his children. I know that God loves us, and he watches out for all of us. He wants all of us to succeed.

Email from Elder Lofthouse 5/3/16 Life keeps rolling on

This week was pretty good, we're just doing what we do!
 Tuesday was good. We exchanged with Forest heights, so I got to goto Edmonton for a day again!  It was pretty good.
   
Wednesday was great. I was in the city with Elder Chadsey, and he's a great guy. I love him. We taught a lesson to a guy named James, who is a very solid investigator. He's going to get baptized in June! I'm so happy. The rest of the day we spent walking around, talking to people. You sure meet some interesting people on the streets in Edmonton!  We exchanged back that evening.
   
Thursday was pretty good. We had district meeting in the morning, which is always fun. After district meeting, we had lunch with the Nottingham elders. We made Spamburgers!  Spam and hamburgers. It was pretty good. The rest of the day was people not being home and us walking... A lot!  It was pretty good though. We had a lesson with Brother Kohn. It was about putting on the whole armor of God. It was a good day.
     
Friday was Elder Roundy's birthday!  After dream catchers we went to Red Robin for lunch. It was really good. I love red robin. We did a lot of service in the afternoon, and then we went to the Elders quorum Kub Kar rally!  Basically, it's the Canadian pinewood derby. It was awesome. We had some fun!

Saturday was busy. We did service almost all day. It was a good physical day. I love serving people. It's just so much fun.

Sunday was pretty awesome. After church we had supper with the Guzman's. That family is great. I love them. We taught a lesson on doing the little things. It was pretty sweet.
     
Monday we went to the foodbank in the morning, and did more heavy lifting. Pretty great, eh?  We stopped by a whole bunch of people, and set up some lessons for later in the week. It'll be a good
week!
