This week was pretty awesome. I mean, every week is, but this week was even better. I'm not sure why.
Tuesday was awesome. After playing sports we went to the Pattisons so elder Kamea could give President's son a haircut. It was pretty sweet. We had tacos with the Pattisons, and then we went to the Dogans after for another supper. We pulled 2 suppers off. It was a ton of food. After supper with the Dogans, we went and visited John for a little bit. We were able to introduce Elder Kamea, and we're going to invite John to the pig roast, when we figure it all out. It'll be fun!
Wednesday we visited sister Saunders in the morning. She's super cool, and she's making us lava lavas. :) After that we went and got our oil changed and our tires rotated. We stopped by a couple people after that, and then we went and ate supper with the Jaffrays. Brother Jaffray served his mission in the Provo Utah mission! He didn't serve in elk ridge, but he did serve in Payson, so that was cool. After supper we had a lesson with the Castel family. It was awesome. We taught a killer lesson on the Plan of Salvation. It was awesome. That night, we got our lava lavas! It was a fantastic night!
Thursday was fun. We had district meeting in the morning, which was a ton of fun. After that we went to Vivian's for lunch, and her daughter came and played the accordion for us! It was pretty sweet. Then Elder Powell and I went to George's place to help out. It was pretty fun. After that we had supper with the Orrs. They're great. Then we went to choir practice. Elder Kamea and I sang in a men's chorus in sacrament meeting on Sunday, so this was practice for it. After that we went home!
Friday was awesome. We went to Dream Catcher in the morning, and helped out there. It was the usual stuff, and there was a little baby goat there that we got to play with a little bit! Super fun. After that we had lunch, and then we went back to George's to help him some more. It's always fun going there. We had supper and then went to see Sister Reid, but she wasn't feeling well, so we weren't able to visit. We stopped by some former investigators, but no luck. It was a pretty slow evening.
Saturday was fun. We had coordination in the morning, and then we went and did our weekly planning. After lunch we drove up to the north end of Edmonton to a baptism. One of Elder Kamea's investigators in his las area got baptized, so that was really fun! We had some DQ with them, and then we went to the Bonnie Doon stake centre to interview a baptismal candidate. It was great! After that we went to Surath's place for supper. It was amazing. It was a super fun day.
Sunday was crazy. We went to Ward council in the morning and then we had church at 1. We sang in sacrament meeting, and it was awesome. The rest of church was good. We had supper with the Monteleone's. It was super fun. They're fun. We stopped by some people and tried to set up some lessons, but no luck. We visited Vivian in the evening, which is always fun. It was a pretty decent day.
Monday was good. We went to the food bank in the morning. We did quite a bit of heavy lifting, which is always the best. We had lunch with the Nottingham elders, and then went and helped George some more! It's so fun! After that we went to a lesson with Miranda, a potential investigator, and we even had a member with us, but she wasn't home. :( I know, I know, it's sad. We had supper with Sister Bezooyan. She's awesome. After that we knocked some doors, but nothing amazing happened. It was a pretty good week, altogether.
This week was interesting. I learned that if we want something to happen, if we want to become something, we have to go through thick and thin to get it. Things aren't always going to go our way, but if we keep on working, keep on going, we can do anything we put our minds to. The power we have, the focus and the drive, is incredible. I challenge each of you to set some goals and do everything you can to get there. It's very rewarding to accomplish them!
Have a wonderful week

This week has been pretty good. We had some good things happen. We had some interesting things, but it was all good!
Tuesday we had supper at the Poulins place. The Tagalog missionaries came as well, so it was fun. Our lesson with John fell through again, so that was sad. Hopefully tonight we'll see him!
Wednesday was fun. We helped out George in the morning, and met a really cool guy named Kyle. He is pretty interested in what we do, but he took off before we could get any information from him. We gave him our number, though. After that we had lunch with Vivian. It was fantastic, as usual. After lunch we tried by a bunch of people, but to no avail. We had supper with the Leafs. They're a great family. After that we had a lesson with Sister Reid, and she told us that she is going to get her patriarchal blessing soon! It was great. After that we visited the Saunders. Sister Saunders loves to sew, and she told us she was going to make us som lava-lavas. I'm so stoked! It was a really good day!
Thursday we had ZTM in the morning. It went well, and it went very smoothly. After ZTM Elder Taylor and I stayed in Sherwood Park for exchanges. We walked around in the afternoon talking to people and stuff. After supper we visited Brother Kohn. It was a really good discussion on President Nelson's talk from this last conference. It
was a stellar day.
Friday we went to dream catcher in the morning. We got to meet Wanda, a new baby goat that they have. It was awesome. The rest of the day was basically spent driving. We drove back to Vermilion for exchanges, and then came home. Elder Taylor forgot his bedding here in Sherwood Park, and Elder Kamea forgot his toiletries in Vermilion. So we drove back to Sherwood Park, did some weekly planning, and then drove back to Vegreville and got the stuff where it needed to be. All in all it was a long day.
Saturday we had a meeting with Brother Voravong. It was really good. After that we went and we helped the Fixsen family move in. We now have 3 Fixsen families in the Clarkdale Ward. Haha. After that we planned and then we knocked some doors, but no one was home. It was a slow day.
Sunday was awesome. We had choir after lunch. They have a piece that a men's choir will be singing next week, and they asked us to help. I'm super excited. Church was awesome. We had a less active member come to church with his 2 nonmember kids over 9 years old. They all want to learn more! We set up a lesson with them and the Heningers invite them and us to supper. So we had the lesson with them at the Heningers place. It was incredible. Miracles really do happen! Things are starting to pick up!
Monday was super cool. We went to the foodbank in the morning. It's always a pretty good workout when we go there. After that we had a lesson with Brother Pedersen! It was awesome. He said he wants to come back to church! It was awesome. We went and knocked on a few doors later, and we found a lady who told us to come back next week. I'm so stoked! It's crazy, the stuff that happens when you keep on working! Good stuff is coming!
This week was awesome. Elder Kamea and I learned a valuable lesson. Whenever you have goals. You cannot lower your expectations. When you have a dream, and you lower your sights, you'll never make it. Always aim the highest you possibly can. I know that God will help you as you set goals and keep the commandments. He wants us to succeed just as much as we do, and He knows what's best. So it's a good idea to trust in God, and follow his plan for us!

Email from Elder Lofthouse 7/12/16 Meetings...Yay
This week was insane. But it was awesome at the same time.
Tuesday evening, after supper with the Cahoon's, we exchanged with the Conners Hill Elders. Elder Nerdin came back to Sherwood Park with me. He's a super cool kid.
Wednesday was interesting. We had a lesson with Aaron. He's awesome. We taught the restoration and he thought it was super cool. He's been reading the Book of Mormon, so that's good. We also saw the Wendover's, and we found out they're moving. Sad day. We went and helped some people move about 40 sheets of drywall into a basement after that..... And it started to dump rain. I loved it. We had supper with the Gibbs afterward, and it was super fun. We had meatballs in sweet and sour sauce, and it was one of the best sauces I've ever had! After that we exchanged back. It was a really good day.
Thursday we had district meeting in the morning. It was good. District meeting is always fun. After lunch we tried by some potential investigators. Most of them weren't home, and the few that were said to try again later. So we'll do that! After that we had supper with the Chiu's. They're awesome. We went to see the Cunninghams after that, but they weren't home. :( However, we did get to go see Brother Kohn! :) He's just such an awesome guy. It was a pretty good day.
Friday was incredibly long. We had MLC. Which is always long, but it was pretty good. There aren't any huge changes happening yet, so that's good. After MLC we had supper with the Guzman's. They're super cool. We talked about prayer and how much it helps us. After supper we had a visit with Sister Reid. She has been struggling a little lately, and we were able to help her out. It was an awesome visit. It was a good day.
Saturday we had coordination with Bro Lambert in the morning. We then did weekly planning, which took us quite a while. After all that we went and visited Jim. He's home alone right now, so we thought we'd visit him and see how he was doing. We had coordination with Bro Voravong after that. It was good. We went and had supper with Addie, and then we helped her stack bricks. It was awesome! The best part of the day was when President Pattison brought his 3 sons over to our
apartment and we ate donuts and had chocolate milk with all of them. It was awesome. President Pattison is a super cool guy.

Sunday we had Ward council in the morning. Then we had our studies, and went to church. Sacrament meeting was awesome. There was a Sister who just got home who spoke. She's the fifth person to get home from their missions since I've been here in Clarkdale. It's been fun! After church we had supper and then we went and helped the Guzman's unload some stuff. Sister Guzman's mom moved in, so we helped them with that. It was an overall good day!
Monday was awesome. We went to the foodbank in the morning, and did a bunch of stuff. I love going to help there. After lunch we met up with the YSA elders to go on a quick split to teach a YSA less active guy in our Ward. Sadly, he wasn't home. So we went to the Guzman's and helped mow their lawn. After mowing the lawn we went and moved a whole bunch more drywall. We did lots of service. We had supper with the Hardings. They are super cool. Later in the evening we saw Vivian! She was excited to see us, and we had a nice chat. It was a great day.
This week was awesome. Just like every other week. This week I noticed something. The more we worry about the future, or worry about what happened in the past, the more we miss out on the beauty of what is happening right now. We should still plan for our future, and we should learn from our past, but we need to be ready and willing to help those around us today. That's the most important thing for us to do. Always be ready to serve those around you in a moments notice. It makes life a lot
more enjoyable!

Email from Elder Lofthouse 7/5/16 Good Stuff...
This week has been super crazy. It was President and Sister Manion's last week. They're home now! Crazy, eh? President and Sister Pattison are pretty cool. It'll be an interesting transition, for sure.
So Tuesday we went to the temple. It was awesome, I love the temple. After that we helped somebody move in. It was pretty fun. Tuesday evening we exchanged with the mandarin Elders. Elder Ethington came with me to Clarkdale.
Wednesday was a crazy day. Elder Ethington and I helped Elder Powell and Elder Campbell clean their apartment, and then they moved in with us. Well, it was a couple days before, but it's still weird. Haha. After that we went and mowed a less active members lawn for them. It wasn't too bad, and brought back the memories of mowing the lawn back home...... :) We had a lesson with Sister Reid after that. We brought Jared, one of the priests with us. We had a killer lesson on the Plan of Salvation. Elder Ethington then went and helped out George. We helped him haul some leaves to the enviro centre, and then we helped him load up a trailer for a garage sale. I love George. He's great. We went to Boston pizza for supper. We had wings, for wing Wednesday of course. We then had a lesson with Sister Sadoway. We brought Joel with us, another priest. It was a good lesson on keeping the sabbath day holy. After the lesson we exchanged back.
Thursday we had district meeting in the morning. It was really good. District meetings are usually pretty good. We had lunch with Vivian afterwards. She's such a good cook. After lunch we stopped by a bunch of people, but didn't have any luck. We had supper with the Gibbs, and then we went on splits with members of the Ward council to go and visit people. It was actually a ton of fun. Its the first time I've gone on splits with someone on my mission. Super cool!
Friday was probably the best day of the week. It was Canada Day!! We were busy from 10 am to almost 10 pm. We were at the Strathcona county festival for all of the day. We got to talk to a ton of people, and we had a ton of fun while doing it. I loved it. We helped out by taking tickets at one of the events, and then we helped at the remote control monster truck station, and at random places wherever we could. It was incredible!
Saturday was super cool. We did our weekly planning in the morning, and then Elder Powell and I decided to get a family feast from Panda Express. It was not as happy as we had hoped, but it was good. After lunch, Elder Kamea and I went garage sale contacting. We met some cool people, and Elder Kamea got a super cool wallet at one of the garage sales. We had a lesson with Aaron after that. He's known missionaries for about a year, but nobody had actually taught him and told him what we do! So we're going to start teaching him the lessons! It's gonna be awesome. We finished our weekly planning, and then we went and did some administrative stuff at the church. Nothing exciting..... :/
Sunday was really good. We went and invited a whole bunch of people to go to church. Sadly, no one came. But we did get to meet President and Sister Pattison! They're super cool. Church was really good. The Tagalog Elders had an investigator in our Ward, so that was fun. After church we went and had supper. We went and visited Brother Bexson. That man can talk forever. We were there for 2 hours, and it was really hard to get out. So crazy. We visited Vivian, and it was awesome. It was a good day!
Monday was interesting. We had the "meet the Mission President" meeting. It was pretty cool. President and Sister Pattison are awesome. We had lunch at Burrito Libre. It was pretty good, but not cafe rio good. Anyway, after lunch the brake switch on our car failed. We wrangled the car into gear, drove it to the Subaru dealership, and got it fixed. It was a hassle. After that we had a good ole American style BBQ for supper. The Simpsons were even nice enough to honor the family tradition and got me some KFC! Haha. It was fantastic. After supper we stopped by the Cunninghams place. Turns out, they're moving at the beginning of August! Sad, eh? It was still a good day.
This week I ponderized this scripture: Ether 12: 4 Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God.
The gift of hope is so amazing. With hope, life becomes much more enjoyable. Without hope, there is no reason to keep fighting! Hope and Faith are interconnected in so many ways, that you can't truly have one without the other. All of the hope that we can have comes from the atonement. Jesus Christ is the reason for all of our hope. Always remember that. Jesus Christ is the reason that we are hopeful. Here's a little poem that I found
"Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey towards it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.’ … Hope sweetens the memory of experiences well loved. It tempers our troubles to our growth and our strength. It befriends us in dark hours, excites us in bright ones. It lends promise to the future and purpose to the past. It turns discouragement to determination.”- Samuel Smiles

Email from Elder Lofthouse 6/28/16 Transfers
This week was a lot of fun. My new companion is Elder Kamea. He's from Tonga, and he's straight awesome! We also were able to go to the temple today! It was awesome, as usual.
Tuesday Elder Roundy and I had a lesson with John. It was awesome. He's such a cool guy. He really just wants to know truth, but he also wants hard facts. It's a struggle some times. But he's still a cool guy. We went and saw the Guzman's. We had a good visit and then we visited the Saunders. It was just a really good evening. It was Elder Roundy's last evening.
Wednesday was tiring. We drove to the Temple in the morning, well to the Riverbend stake centre, but it's the same address. So we found out Elder Roundy is going up to High Prairie for his last transfer! Pretty cool, eh? And then I got to chill with Elders Pollard, Shipley, and Strong while waiting for our companions to get out of a meeting. It was a lot of fun. After the meeting, Elder Kamea and I drove back and unpacked, and went street contacting. We had supper at the leafs, which is always fun. We had pulled pork sandwiches:) after supper we stopped by a few people and set up some lessons. It was an awesome day!
Thursday was a lot of fun. Elder Kamea and I get along great. We had a good lunch with Vivian. That night we had a cool lesson with brother Kohn. It's going to be a super fun transfer with Elder Kamea.
Friday Elder Kamea got sick. It was kinda sad. I spent most of the day reading the scriptures, and watching church movies. It was all good though.
Saturday was fun. We tried to talk to as many people as we could, but no one was really interested. It was still a good day. I found out a lot about Elder Kamea. The week he got his mission call, he also got an invitation to play rugby for the Tongan national team. He's super cool, and he's a convert of 3 years. He's awesome.
Sunday was great. We had Ward Council in the morning, and then church in the afternoon. After church we went and had supper. The Monteleone's are a great family. After that we went and visited a lot of people. We introduced Elder Kamea to a few members, and it was a good day.
Monday we went to the foodbank. After the foodbank we went and helped the Nottingham Elders pack up their apartment. They're moving into our place for a week, and then moving into the their new apartment next Saturday. We went and helped out George Wilson as well. It was an awesome day. We had a good visit with Vivian in the evening.
This week has been fun. Change is sometimes hard, but it's always for our good. God wants us to grow, and the only way we can do that is by dealing with changes and new challenges. So keep the faith through the ups and downs, and all the changes. It's awesome!
Have a great week!
