How was everybody's week this week?
On P-day we had a lot of fun. So we went shopping and emailed and all that fun stuff. Then Elder Phillips, one of the Spanish Elders in Red Deer bought me a hat. So about 2 months ago we started a weight loss competition. Whoever lost had to buy the other a hat. So he bought me a super sweet Edmonton Oilers hat. It's so awesome. I love it. Then I kept score and stats while they played basketball. It was a little taste of what I hope my job will be someday. So overall it was a very good day. After supper we drove out to Joffree ( a little town about 30 minutes east of Red Deer) to see if we could find people to teach out there. One more trip and we'll probably have the whole town tracted out! It's s tiny place but it's pretty sweet. Again it was an awesome day.
Wednesday was Canada day! We didn't do anything super special for it. We just kept on working like we normally do. We walked around the Bower Ponds for a while just talking to people and getting to know some of the locals. It was a blast. When we got home that night we did our normal routine and then went to bed. At about 11 pm the fireworks woke me up, so I watched from our window. We had a decent view so it was pretty intense. I love fireworks. They are so beautiful. Canada day was a really good day.
Thursday we started the day with a church tour. We gave Jodie a church your and then had a good lesson there. I think that she is coming closer to receiving a witness of the Book of Mormon's truthfulness. It was a really good lesson. After that we went over and had another lesson with the Reid family. They are all progressing really well. I love watching people grow in the gospel and watching their lives change for the better. That night we had another pickup night. We got 1 less active member, 1 recent convert, and 4 investigators there. It was awesome. We're going to start inviting members and telling them to bring their friends so we can increase our teaching pool. It's going to be amazing!

Friday was an interesting day. In the morning we went to the extendicare and played games with the patients there. I got whooped playing cribbage, again, it was super fun. Then we went and had lunch with the Spanish and the Tagalog elders. 3 of us ( me included ) ate a habanero. I ate 2 because somebody didn't think I could do it. That was a mistake. I am here to tell you that habaneros are HOT! I quite enjoy the flavor at the beginning, but then the fire kicks in and it sucks. After lunch and Facebook and all that we came home. Then, out of nowhere, I got sick. It sucked. I had a headache and my stomach didn't feel good or anything. Maybe it was the habaneros, but I have no idea. It was awful. So we did our weekly planning and after that, I tried to get some rest. My stomach felt like it had been turned to jelly. So it was an ok day.
For the 4th of July we had a lot of fun. We first did some Facebook time and then we went and did some trail contacting. While we were doing that we stumbled upon a homeless man's living area, so we left him a Book of Mormon and a Plan of Salvation pamphlet. Hopefully they change his life. After that we went and had an Independence Day bbq at a park. It was awesome. There was a random dude there that hung out with us the whole time. It was pretty sweet. We invited him to come to the pick up basketball games and he said he would try to come. After the bbq we did have another basketball night and a lot more people came tonight! It was great. Saturday was a good day.
Sunday was a good day. We went to church which is always a blessing. During Sunday school we had a super good lesson on fasting. I think that fasting is something that we'd all benefit from applying the principles of fasting more in our lives. After church we had lunch/nap time. After that we went and did some Facebook Proselyting. It is still interesting learning to use it more effectively. After that we went and had supper at the Chiles' house. I love the Chiles. They are an awesome family. After that we went and had a lesson with the Reids. It started out super frustrating. Nobody was listening and sitting still, but as we listened to the spirit, we changed the direction of the lesson and it was awesome. Mind you that we were still teaching children with th attention spans of 8 seconds, but it turned out to be a pretty good lesson. Sunday was a great day.
Monday was fun. In the morning the Jehovah Witnesses came to our door. We talked to them for about 45 minutes. It was interesting. They gave us a bible study guide to look at. It was an interesting visit. Then we went to stop by a former investigator, but he wasn't there. We did have a lengthy discussion with his roommate though. It was an interesting conversation. That evening we had another great lesson with the Reids. They're all progressing fairly well. I love being here In Canada.
This week I wanted to share something that I learned.
2 Nephi 31: 21 And now, behold, my beloved brethren, this is the way; and there is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God. And now, behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen.
This is the only way we will make it back to live with our Heavenly Father again. There is no, let me repeat, NO other way. If you want to become like God and live with him again, we must be doing what we are supposed to. I encourage everybody to not only read, but to study, search, and learn the scriptures backward and front. It is in the pages of the Holy Scriptures that we will find what we must do to make our divine potential a reality. If you have not yet received a witness that the Book Of Mormon is true, I beg you to study it's pages and to search and ponder them, and then pray to God and ask with a sincere desire to know if the Book of Mormon is true. I promise that if you pray with real intent, God will answer your prayer. It might not come when you want or how you want, but he will answer our prayers.
I testify to all of you receiving this email that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church of Christ restored on this earth today. I know, without a doubt, that Jesus Christ lived, died, and then rose again on the third day. I know that he lives today and that he is still guiding his people through the Prophet. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, and that through divine power he translated the Book of Mormon. We live in a glorious time right now. We have the restored gospel and we have the priesthood authority on the earth today. I love this gospel and I hope that I can, through Christ, overcome my faults and my shortcomings and live with my Father in Heaven for all eternity. Remember, God wants us to succeed. He wants us to return to him again. He has given us all of these resources to help us succeed in this life. Please, follow the guidance of the Prophets, both ancient and modern. They know what they're talking about.
I love you all and I hope that you all have a great week!
