Tuesday we had supper with the Johnston's. Sister Johnston is such a good cook, it's ridiculous. After supper we had a lesson with Donna. We talked about the first vision, and it was awesome! It was a super good day.
Wednesday was really fun. We had a Skype district meeting, which went ok. I just don't like the skype meetings. Especially after ZTM's in Yellowknife..... I just don't like them. After that we went and helped a lady named Pat move into a new apartment. She's a super cool lady. After some stuff, that I honestly can't remember, we went and did some service for Brother Wry. We had supper with the Wry's after. It was really good. The best part of the day was going to introduce the Stop Smoking Program to Levi, Donna's grandson. He said that he's willing to give it a try! It's going to be pretty awesome.
Thursday was not so great.... I got sick. :( I pretty much slept most of the day. Luckily, it wasn't a super bad illness, just one day out.
Friday we did weekly planning, and then went and had a lesson with Brenda. We talked about how the Book of Mormon is the Keystone to our religion. It was a really good lesson. After that we went to the SPCA to do some volunteer work. We worked with a dog named Titan. He's a pretty sweet dog. After that we went tracting, and met the Salvation Army officers here in Dawson. They're awesome. I don't know if we'll teach them, but they're super nice people. After that we had supper with the Whitehead's. It was good, as usual. After supper we had a lesson with Bro Sloan. He's a super cool guy, and he said that he'll come back to church! It was a really fun day.
Saturday was pretty sweet. We went tracting in the morning. We met some pretty cool people, and some not so cool people, but it was fun. Afterwards we had lunch and a lesson with Analyn. She is so awesome. She's been reading and Praying, and she is committed to baptism. She's a super investigator. It's been fun to teach her. After lunch and supper we checked up on a couple who haven't been to church in a while. It went really well.
Sunday was the best. We had Analyn and Jonathan at church. Jonathan brought one of his friends, and it was awesome. Church was great, and we went and took the sacrament to Jill. She really loves it when we come over. After that we took the sacrament to the Van Der Horst's. They're awesome, and we had a good time with them. It was really good. After that we went and we drove to Cotillion, which is in Alberta. We had a potluck with the people out there, and it was really fun. The people there are awesome. After supper we drove back and had a lesson with Amber. We talked about service. I love service. It's the best thing ever to do.
King Benjamin taught in his sermon that "When ye are in the service of your fellow men, ye are only in the service of your God." (Mosiah 2: 17) I love service. It's the best way ever to come closer to God and to think about others. When you serve people, it's near impossible to be selfish. I love being able to help others. I think the words of a hymn say it best.....
Have I done any good in the world today?
Have I helped anyone in need?
Have I cheered up the sad, and made someone feel Glad?
If not, I have failed indeed.
Those words are so true. I think that if we all tried to do at least one random act of service a day, we would be surprised at how much it changes our perspective on the world.
